The ad platforms rewired themselves this month.

Three platform changes deserve a spot on every B2B marketer’s radar right now. One rewrites where ads can live, one rewrites how bids behave, and one quietly hands B2B brands a distribution unlock.
ChatGPT ads: the last resort now has a roadmap.
Two years ago, Sam Altman told a Harvard audience that combining ads with AI was “uniquely unsettling” and called advertising a last resort. That resort is now a functioning ad platform. ChatGPT ads piloted in the US in February on the Free and Go tiers, opened to self-serve buying for all US businesses in May with budget minimums removed entirely, and crossed $100 million in annualized revenue within six weeks of that launch.
The UK followed on June 6, OpenAI’s first market outside the US, with Dentsu as launch partner and Hiscox and Hilton among the named brands piloting it. Worth knowing before you get excited: the UK rollout ships as a managed pilot only. There is no self-serve Ads Manager yet; advertisers register interest and work directly with OpenAI’s team, a meaningfully earlier stage than the US market.
The mechanics matter more than the milestones. There is no keyword bidding. Targeting runs on conversational context, a fundamentally different model from Google or Meta. Google reaches intent expressed through keywords. Meta reaches demographics in browsing mode. ChatGPT reaches a person mid-decision, asking follow-up questions, which is the moment advertisers have never been able to buy before.
For B2B specifically: not a mature performance channel yet, targeting and reporting remain limited, but the discovery layer your buyers already use is now sellable, and it is maturing by the month. Worth a small test budget and a close eye, not a strategy rewrite.
Google Ads: your overperforming campaigns are about to get corrected.
A quieter change with a wider blast radius, and one worth checking your accounts against now. Starting August 17, Google is changing how Target CPA and Target ROAS bidding behaves for campaigns limited by budget.
Here is the part that will surprise some teams. Today, many budget-constrained campaigns quietly beat their own targets, $50 Target CPA campaign landing conversions at $35, because Smart Bidding enters only the most efficient auctions when spend is capped. Google says that was never the intended behavior. After August 17, those campaigns will optimize toward the number advertisers actually typed in, not the better number they had been getting by accident.
The plain translation: campaigns that have been overperforming may start costing more to hit the same results, unless targets are adjusted first. Google has released a Bid Target Adjustment Tool to help identify affected campaigns, and pushback from the PPC community has been loud enough that Google issued follow-up clarifications after the initial June announcement. If your team runs budget-limited Target CPA or ROAS campaigns, this is worth an audit before the 17th, not after.
LinkedIn: posts can now have co-authors.
The smallest change on this list may be the most immediately useful for B2B. LinkedIn posts can now carry multiple defined collaborators, and a published post pushes to every collaborator’s feed at once.
Consider what that replaces. The standard B2B distribution dance has been: brand page posts, executives reshare, employees get nudged to engage, and each step loses reach to the algorithm’s dim view of reshares. Native co-authorship collapses that into one post with multiplied first-degree distribution. A company announcement co-authored by the CMO and the founder reaches three networks as an original post, not an echo.
The thread running through all three.
Different platforms, one direction: the levers are moving away from manual craft, keyword bids, reshare choreography, padded targets, and toward systems that read context and handle distribution natively. The marketers who benefit first will be the ones who notice which of their current habits just became workarounds.
